ACL PLAY IT SAFE

As many of you know, ACL injury prevention has been a passion of mine for over 20 years.  This all started back in the late 90s when during a 2 week period, we had 20+ kids come into my physical therapy practice with ACL reconstructions.  After using the standard PT approach back then, I was still finding when I looked at their gait at discharge, they still had movement patterns that intuitively I knew was putting them at risk for reinjury.

So the journey began.  I felt called to do something about this and that began a 20 year process of trying to develop a way to assess these kids.  I felt like if I could assess these athletes, I could then develop better treatment strategies.  Our goals was to develop something that could be easily implemented in the clinic, in mass physicals and in the performance centers.  Something that would provide biomechanical quality data and help guide us on our interventions.  Since the launch of the DorsaVi ViPerform AMI, we have assessed over 11,200 athletes across the US.  With this level of data we are now able to identify trends that we never knew existed and see that before it is published in the research.

Couple weeks ago, we launched a 3 minute video highlighting what we call ACL Play It Safe.  This is a comprehensive approach of performing a 3D biomechanical assessment with the DorsaVi Viperform AMI and using the results to assign the athlete to our corrective progressive exercise program.

Thank you for allowing me to share with you my passion.  Keeping in mind, I truly feel like this is a calling and what we have developed is something much greater than I or one person.  It has been a accumulation of what some amazing people have taught me along this journey.  If you find this valuable, please share and thank you.  Together, we will impact this epidemic.
